Coffee is good for liver
Two cups of coffee a day cuts the risk of dying from cirrhosis by 66 % in patients whose disease caused by non-viral hepatitis, says a new study published in the journal Hepatology.
Cirrhosis is one of the world's biggest killers, causing 1.3 % of death worldwide.
Mouthwash is linked to cancer
Rinsing with a mouthwash more then three times a day can increase your risk of mouth and throat cancer. German and Scottish researchers found that mouth-washes containing alcohol enabled carcinogenic substances to infiltrate the mouth lining more easily. All that is really necessary for good oral hygiene is brushing with good toothpaste, flossing, and regular dental checkups, said Dr. David Conway of University of Glasgow Dental School.
Watermelon lowers blood pressure
Watermelon can help keep your blood pressure in check, says a study published in the American Journal of Hypertension. Researchers gave hypertensive obese adults daily doses of two types of amino acids extracted from watermelon, L-citrulline and L-arginine.
After six weeks , blood pressure and cardiac stress were improved.
L-arginine is required for the formation of nitric oxide, which is essential for regulation of vascular tone and healthy blood pressure.
Cabbage fight inflammation
Women who eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables – green and red cabbage, kale, collard greens, broccoli, cauliflower are examples-have lower levels of chronic inflammation, according to researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Chronic inflammation has been associated with many degenerative diseases including cancer, diabetes, degenerative arthritis, obesity. The vegetables can be eaten raw or cooked.
